Riaan Pieterse
Hi, I am Riaan. I have 21 years of experience in architecture and have worked on almost every building type in this time. In 2016 I started with ARKEY and in 2017 Mathilde joined me to help with plan submissions to council. Together we make a great team with mutual interest in the company and its clients.
About us
Riaan & Mathilde
We have been married for 16 years and have 2 children. Since I was young, I have always loved buildings and appreciated the design behind it. When I finished high school, I went to study art for one year. Thereafter I started my studies to become a Senior Architectural Technologist. In 2010 I also obtained a diploma in Interior Decorating from Inscape College.
Mathilde grew up in a house where she helped her dad measure buildings from a young age and thus also have experience with the architectural profession since she was a child. She started her first job after matric at City of Cape Town in the Building Plans department while studying for her BCompt degree through Unisa.
Qualifications
I’m a Senior Architectural Technologist and have been registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) since 2004 and at The South African Institute of Architectural Technologists (SAIAT). A big part of my studies focused on design & the detailing of design. Along with my 21 years of experience it has formed me to be able to take any design on paper and process it to practical solutions to get it built on site.
Mathilde was a financial manager and a qualified accountant. She has a great eye for detail and will help you to get your plans approved by council. She guides you through every step, from filling in the required forms to following up on the plans and sorting out any additional requirements from councils side.

Our Name & Its Meaning
Our name originated from a previous business a friend and I had tried to get up and running. This however sadly did not happen. Being a fellow child of GOD he came up with the name ARKEY for the business.
The name is a combination of two words…
ARK – The vessel that saved Noah’s live during the flood
KEY – To unlock and open a door
When starting ARKEY my friend gladly agreed that it was the perfect name for our new company. In our Icon Logo the ark is represented with an A with the key hole in the middle of the A.
The city scape on the sides of the Icon Logo represent architecture and what our company is all about
